APPLICATION
The North Texas Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee accepts applications on
MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, AND THURSDAY ONLY, at 8:30 AM ONLY, with the exception of holidays. Applications are open to all persons regardless
of age, race, creed, national origin, or sex.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (These minimum qualifications determine eligibility for an interview)

Age - at least 18 years of age

High School graduate or have a GED

One year of high school algebra or the equivalent, with passing grades (GED algebra not
accepted)

Score a 4 or higher on the NJATC Aptitude Test.

Physically capable of doing electrical construction work - All applicants who are accepted into the Apprenticeship Program will have a drug
screen
and may be required to take a physical exam which will include color blindness.

NJATC APTITUDE TEST
After your paperwork has been reviewed and it is confirmed that you meet the qualifications, you will be scheduled for the NJATC Aptitude Test.
The Aptitude Test is made up of two parts: Algebra and Functions, and Reading Comprehension. It takes approximately two to three hours to complete
the test. To qualify for an interview, you must score a 4 or higher on the NJTAC Aptitude Test.
INTERVIEW
The Apprenticeship Committee will notify applicants of the date and time of their interviews. Interviews are held at the
North Texas Electrical
Training Center. The Committee will select the people they feel are the top prospects for the electrical industry. Points that can be taken into
consideration at the interview are educational background, extent of math background, character, interest, cooperativeness, attitude, and personal appearance.
TERM OF APPRENTICESHIP
The term of apprenticeship is 8,000 hours of on-the-job training divided over 5 years and 192 hours (2 semesters) per year of related classroom
instruction,
plus 1 semester of math refresher.
ON-THE-JOB TRAINING
Applicants selected will start their on-the-job training as soon as there is a job opening. Starting salary is $16.86 an hour, with increment
raises
throughout the program, plus sharing in fringe benefits. Benefits include free family health insurance, free retirement and free annuity. The Journeyman
Electrician rate at this time is $33.71 per hour.
SCHOOL
Classes are held at the North Texas
Electrical Training
Center, one day every two weeks from 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. After you complete Math
Refresher, there are 2 semesters per year starting in January and July of each year. You will receive college credit through Dallas College - North Lake Campus.

COST
Apprentices purchase their books and pay tuition at the beginning of each semester. Books for Math
Refresher Class cost $84.00 and then they
average $364.00 per semester. Tuition paid by the student is $236.00 per semester for Texas residents. Out-of-State resident tuition is considerably higher.
